§ 18-61. Findings of fact.

Latest version.
  • The Board of County Commissioners of Sarasota County, Florida, finds and determines that:

    (1)

In order to promote and protect the public safety and general welfare throughout the unincorporated area of the County, reasonable regulation of uses of public property is necessary.

    (2)

Buchan Airport is a publicly owned and operated airport whose use is limited to travel and recreation by the general public.

    (3)

The use of Buchan Airport for the exploitation of commercial enterprises is not in the best interests of Sarasota County.

    (4)

Tiedowns are necessary for assuring that aircraft are parked at safe locations on Buchan Airport, a County facility, and desirable for the protection of aircraft.

    (5)

Establishment of an aircraft tiedown fee and an airport user fee is an appropriate, simple, and economical method of generating user revenue to partially recover public funds heretofore expended to support maintenance, improvement, and other airport operations.
