§ 2-341. Findings of Fact.

  • The Board of County Commissioners of Sarasota County, Florida hereby finds:

    (1)

    Chapter 162, Part I, Florida Statutes, authorizes Sarasota County to adopt a code enforcement system that gives Special Magistrates designated by the local governing body, the authority to hold hearings and assess fines against Violators of county codes and ordinances.

    (2)

    Chapter 162, Part II, Florida Statutes, provides an additional and supplemental method of enforcing codes and ordinances in Sarasota County by issuing citations.

    (3)

    It is in the best interests of the citizens of Sarasota County to provide for alternate code enforcement methods, through remedial systems that focus on bringing properties into compliance, rather than on punishment.

    (4)

    The purpose of this article is to help ensure that all properties within the unincorporated portions of Sarasota County stay in compliance with all codes and ordinances adopted by Sarasota County.
