§ 22-208. County or Municipality Initiated Change or Correction of Address Number or Street Name.

Latest version.
  • (a)

The Addressing Coordinator may change or correct an address number or street name if the change or correction is necessary for orderly maintenance of the overall addressing system and to preserve health, safety and welfare. Preference shall be given to an address number change instead of an address street name change.

The Addressing Coordinator shall issue a Notice of Intent to Change or Correct Address Number or Street Name notifying the owner(s) or occupant(s), and any governmental agencies or public utility companies providing service to the property, of the intended change or correction at least 30 days prior to the correction becoming effective.

    (b)

The property owner shall be responsible for notifying third parties of the change or correction to address or street name, including, but not limited to, the Federal and State Governments, businesses, employers, security companies, friends, and relatives.

    (c)

Each property owner, lessee or renter impacted by a required street name and/or address number change will be given 30 days from the request to change the street name and/or address number, or any adverse decision in an administrative appeal, whichever is later. If the property owner does not comply within that time, the property owner will be subject to the enforcement provisions contained in Section 22-212 of this Code.
